It Does Sound Rather Like a Monty Python Skit
Pixy's covering my blogwar with Hugh Hewitt. Admittedly, my blog war with Hugh Hewitt has been less dramatic than many such conflicts, due to a few unavoidable facts: 1) Hugh doesn't know my blog exists, and 2) Hugh doesn't know I exist.
But, you know: I've been carrying on despite these minor obstacles.
On the other hand, at some point he will be forced to concede that Condi Rice exists, and that she's a stronger candidate for President than most of the boring white guys Hewitt seems interested in pushing (e.g., Frist).

Yep, Rice/Giuliani or vice versa looks by far the best ticket the Republicans could come up with - though they do have a couple of years to work on that.
What else do they have? Okay, Jeb Bush would drive the moonbats crazy; the prospect of another four years of Bush presidency would have them popping blood vessels. But I don't know if he'd make that strong a showing otherwise.
Senators? Forget it. Arnold? Not eligible. The other governors? Do any of them really stand out?

Nobody does. And Arnold's star has fallen a bit lately. But he is, of course, foreign-born. (We've got to get rid of that, of course. It's silly.)
Jeb Bush is interesting, in that his family is half-Latin (he married a Latina) and he converted to Roman Catholicism, so he might galvanize Latinos and Catholics. But Americans don't like too much "dynasty," so even if he runs someday I don't think 2008 is the time.

Not surprising, but remains amusing, that RNC Radio Hugh has turned to Frist, probably at the behest of Ken Mehlman. Hewitt was dismissing Frist's chances as recently as a couple of weeks ago over the "updates on the war" vote.
I agree that a Giuliani/Rice ticket looks like the best bet going, but Rudy's going to have to have a road-to-Damascus moment on the Second Amendment to get the RKBA folks to turn out.

Ken, your comment and mine crossed in the mail. The Second Amendment is one of the chief reasons Rice needs to be at the top of the ticket: in this area (and several others) Giuliani is not conservative enough to get the nomination. Rice is adamant about the importance of gun rights—absolutely rock-solid. And because of her heavy-duty Christian background (daughter of a minister, etc.) she may squeak by on the abortion issue (technically pro-choice, but very disapproving of abortion, and likely to favor limitations/a return to the states—which is where the progress is to be made these days).
One more time: Giuliani can't get the nomination (at least, not at the top of the ticket). Rice can.

It is also one of the key reasons Gore lost in 2000, drone drone drone, and it is no wonder people referred to that Democrat as Al BORE. With Condoleezza Rice and each of her appearances at the podium during her world visits in the past 11 months, she is dynamic, understands the issues she is speaking about, and treats people with respect. Her diplomatic skills have been sharpened in the past year as well, and even Grover Norquist has suggested her as Time magazine's Person of the Year. The most ironic thing is that Donna Brazille, the Democrat mouthpiece, also agrees for Condi to be Person of the Year. Did you all see the ABC interview last night? Well, Rice has said that she won't run. Cheney and Jeb Bush are also in the fantasy list.
It's not an attack it's just the way things are.
Of course, Rice won overwhelmingly, as she does in every one of these polls.

Dear Pixy, If you can tell me how long Secretary of State gets to keep her job once she announces she will accept the will of the people and run for president, then you might have a clue why she is playing it straight that she is not RUNNING. She does not have to organize any national campaign until 2007 when all the other 30 or so Republicans and Democrats launch offically. Did Hillary announce? Did Newt? Did Rudy or McCain? None of them are admitting plans are being made for them to run as president in 2007, so why is everyone so upset that Condi said she is not running? Our political action committee has been flying and driving to political events for the past year, building a base of support which we call THE EISENHOWER PLAN, as in style of a draft movement. At the Wisconsin State Convention in May 2005, Condi was at 30% by the delegates, with Rudy and McCain at the back of the bus. A poll was taken in Iowa, with 400 likely Republican caucus voters, again, Condi was at 30%, top of the line with Rudy and McCain less than 20%, all others listed below 10% and even 5%. There is a clear honest effort by americansforrice.com to show Secretary of State Rice is the most qualified and the most knowledgeable of the White House plans. She has built relationships with other world leaders which will serve her well when she becomes President in 2009. Our group started early in order to build that base of support nationwide by the people, instead of being controlled by some DC consultant. We are the grassroots, and with over 4,000 of us on Team Condi, we will be setting up Condi Booths at many events in 2006 as well. We are not going away, we know Condi can not run for awhile yet, and we want her to remain at her job as Secretary of State. In fact, she is doing her job with class, dignity, and strength, like a Velvet Hammer.

I very much hope she does run, either for President or for VP, possibly with Giuliani. Just saying that I believe this is the reason Hugh lists her on the "fantasy" ticket.

By the way, I poked through the poll results, and as far as I can see there is no group that doesn't list Condi first. Giuliani comes second to various others for certain groups, but Condi is number one every time.
You can be that people will be paying attention to results like that.

Crystal is correct, Rice HAS to say she's not running, she has 3 years to go as Sec of State. I mean, she's not Hillary Clinton, lol. But she seems to be running, as per her recent domestic PR trip (not exactly in her job description), & her public appearances with NFL head Gene Washington on her arm (something Tammy Bruce predicted Condi would do if she was serious, since the public has a distrust of single women)

Oh, how interesting, BA! I'd been wondering when she was going to work on her heterosexual credentials.(Of course, Hillary hasn't started on that project yet.)
As for Condi's declaration that she won't run, she hasn't taken the "iron-clad" pledge ("if nominated I won't run; if elected, I will not serve"), so the door is still open to being drafted. (Eisenhower didn't take the pledge, either--but he didn't take the notion of being President seriously until Dewey defeated Taft.)
Rice is a private person, and probably has very mixed feelings about all this, but she'd be a fool not to keep her options open. I'm sure she's considering it all very carefully, and the paucity of other quality candidates (with the possible exception of Giuliani, who can't get the nomination) very likely matters a good deal.

Attlia Girl and Pixy are correct. The building support for Condi to be the Republican nominee is happening as we speak. The establishment RNC in Washington DC is behaving neutral right now, providing the discussion of 13 Republican men and Condi to be on the minds of the conservatives and the Republicans and even a Independents. During the past year, as Team Condi was flying and driving to event after event, the people got excited about the possible Condi 2008 efforts. Could it really happen? Are you serious? How can I help? These are the most asked questions and when they hear it is true and how they can donate to promote Condi for 2008, hundreds of people JUMP at the chance. Yes, there are 3 years left to go for Condi in her role as Secretary of State. I am going to do some research to find out how the previous 6 held their post while running for president. A few were promoted by the President they served under, so that cleared the field. Maybe after November 2006, we will see President Bush put his arm around Secretary Rice and tell the Republican party that she is HIS choice for president. Now that is my fantasy, and it is more realistic than Huge Hewitt ignoring us and our efforts. Yes, that is right folks, he totally ignored Team Condi in Las Vegas at the FreedomFest of the Young America Group. He was there with his radio show and refused to allow me to speak to his audience, that is rude in my book. I heard he did mention us once, as in the fact we had a booth there. But he failed to let the people know how many young college Republicans and young conservatives wanted bumper stickers and information about how they could help Condi in 2008. Oh dear, could it be that Hugh Hewitt is scared of us? Could it be that he already has his mind made up for a certain Republican to win in 2008 and refused to allow any debate on his radio program? He is acting like the liberal reporters at USA Today and the NY Times. What a shocking viewpoint, but I can only call it as I see it. Thanks Miss Attila for allowing me to speak up for Condi. And it is a JOY to read all the viewpoints on your blog. Keep up your efforts to bring your audience the real voices from real people.

Miss Attila, I have great news to share with you and your audience. The Washington Times has a story which Dr. Richard Mason posted and it is.......November 25, 2005: Black leaders in Florida switch to GOP. The Washington Times reported today that two prominent leaders of the NAACP in Florida, Darryl E. Rouson, a past president of the St. Petersburg NAACP, and Derrick Wallace, the current president of the Orange County NAACP have registered as Republicans in the past two months. Mr. Rouson, who said he learned that not one black circuit court judge had been appointed during 24 years of Democrats in the Florida governor's mansion, went on to make some rather candid observations:
"I saw that the mayor for eight years here in Pinellas County, who was a Democrat, had given only lip service to inner-city economic development,. The current Republican mayor, Rick Baker who was re-elected two weeks ago with 90 percent of the black vote, gave immediate attention to development and worked closely with black businessmen ....because we are 85 percent in one party, when Republicans are in power we are a beggar race, and when the Democrats are in power we are a beggar race, because they take us for granted."
Under the leadership of Ken Mehlman, RNC Chairman, the Republican party has been making a concerted effort to attract black leaders to the "Party of Lincoln." This summer he came to Florida as part of his "Give Us a Chance and We'll Give You a Choice" outreach tour with minorities.
PS from Crystal..many Republicans who are black, asian, and hispanic are finding economic hope and a better future with their membership in a OWNERSHIP SOCIETY, not a ME Victim group.

Thanks for the Birthday post, and she is working her sweet heart out in the Middle East to help settle some turmoil. CNN just reported today, Nov. 15, that is 10 days, all the paperwork and diplomatic efforts will be finalized for the Israel-Gaza deal. Now, would it shock the Democrats to see Condoleezza Rice win a Noble Peace Prize? You bet it would, and they would tear their hair out is distress to have Condi on the same playing field as that old coot Carter. I think Carter has become a tired old man, still trying to rebuild his tattered weak legacy as president, yet the more he speaks, the more he reminds all of us why he lost in 1980 to a stronger, vibrant and older man like Reagan. Age is not just a matter of years, it also an attitude, and Carter was old back in his days of being the president in 1976, so today, he is ancient history of pacifism, weakness, appeasement to our enemies, and witless in having a vision for the Democrats. So with Condi Rice to compare to the Democrats, she has the brainpower, the experience as our top dipolmat, and by 2008, she will have a record to run on from her years of services in the State Department. Our nation needs a strong leader with foreign policy experience, and a vision for our future. That is why I think Condi is our gift to the world, Rock ON CONDI, and I hope you win a Noble Peace Prize for your endearing efforts in the Middle East. You sure deserve it more than Arafat in 1993,.

NAACP Chief Makes Switch To GOP
For decades, Republicans have struggled to reach out to black Americans. But now in Orange County, Florida, the GOP has to reach no further than the NAACP. As of this week, Derrick Wallace, head of Orange County's NAACP, has switched parties. "I've thought about this for two years," said Mr. Wallace. "This is not a decision I made yesterday." Lew Oliver, head of the local GOP, described himself as "extraordinarily pleased," while Democratic leader Tim Shea said that he was disappointed. A construction-company exec, Mr. Wallace was candid about the fact that his business life was a big part of his decision to change. "It's purely a business decision. Ninety percent of those I do business with are Republicans," he said. "Opportunities that have come to my firm have been brought by Republicans." To that, Mr. Shea responded: "I'm a little confused. Are we talking about the National Association for the Advancement of Construction Professionals -- or Colored People?" Mr. Wallace elaborated that his "business" line of thought also referred to the NAACP. And he said he wants his organization to be part of that structure. Just as importantly, he said, he didn't want people to immediately brand -- or dismiss -- NAACP concerns as synonymous with those of liberal Democrats. "I want this branch to be respected," he said. Mr. Oliver said they already are, noting that all of the members of the GOP executive board joined the NAACP a few years back to show that they were serious about outreach. "
Juliette Ochieng, a black conservative Republican blogger, writes: "Is Mr. Wallace’s decision a result of the proverbial handout or hand-up? Possibly both. Few people of any persuasion or get anywhere without someone lending them a hand, even those who are highly talented and/or skilled. However, the perception may exist that the area Republicans 'bribed' Mr. Wallace into his conversion. The fact that he was honest about this was very shrewd; it takes some of the wind out of the ‘sell-out’ sails.....One must assume that Mr. Wallace’s company is legitimate, in the black (so to speak), set to increase profits and has a reputation for quality work. If that’s so, then it would be likely that many a good capitalist would send business his way.....And, isn’t this an example of minority outreach that many minority critics of the Republican Party have suggested? We’ll see how long it takes, however, for Mr. Wallace to magically get his ‘brutha card’ yanked. It would be a nice surprise for 'never' to be the day."

Condi's Birthday on Monday!
It's not too late to have an impromptu party! A lot of Condistas throughout the country will be doing just that.
If you're starting your own local Condi club, there's lots to talk about:
• Parallels between the "draft Condi" movement and the Eisenhower candidacy.
• Dick Morris' new book on the potential showdown ("inevitable," in his mind) between Condi and Hillary. Does he overstate the case? And/or does he have a point about the GOP needing to go after the Democrats' demographics?
• Dr. Rice's career to date: could it be considered the ideal apprenticeship for the Presidency? Which pivotal heads of State is she getting to know right now?
• If the Secretary accepts our charge and runs, at what point should she declare her candidacy? Later is better in terms of keeping her popularity as strong as it is now, but at some point she will have to commit. Would it be inappropriate for her to continue in her present postion? Would Bush have to appoint a new interim Secretary as Condi campaigns?
• To what extent would having two female candidates neutralize gender as an issue in 2008?
• The people whose names have been suggested as potential candidates are not as strong as Condi is. Would any of them help to balance the ticket, however? Would the base support a Rice/Giuliani candidacy, for instance?
• Would those be the funnest debates in the history of the country, or what?
Don't forget to raise funds, and keep apprised of current events via the Americans for Rice. Because AFR is a 527, it's appropriate to send money to help them raise awareness and persuade Dr. Rice that her duty lies in the White House.

What I'm Reading
Right now: Ambrose's condensed biography of Eisenhower (that is, the single volume subtitled "Soldier and President").
I'm fairly intrigued by the parallels between the good General and Dr. Rice. Speaking of which, the Americans for Rice website is once again being updated, and getting very serious about beefing up its Iowa activist groups—not to mention running more advertising in that state on the regrettable Commander in Chief television show. (I swear I tried to watch it, but after three episodes or so even the deliciously evil Donald Sutherland couldn't keep me coming back: the writing is just too lame.)

Thanks for the mention Miss Attila, and yes, after being without electricity for many days, it is also nice Dr. Mason is back to updating our site. We got major buzz with our ads on ABC, and it has been worth every penny spent in New Hampshire and Iowa to get our message out to the people. As you know, like in Arizona, even when the media shows up, we could not understand why they continued to ignore us at the booth. It happened in Las Vegas and Nashville too. So with our TV ads and radio ads, we have been taken more seriously by the media. None the less, we are still advertising on your site, and are hoping to continue since it is the blogworld which gave us a chance to get our voice heard. That is the power of the blog, to bypass the mainstream media and get our message out since we have been ignored by them, like USA Today and all their other papers in their empire. I was so disappointed when Susan Page, after weeks and weeks of sending her information, only referred to us "as a small group which purchased ad space on "Commander in Chief". She has been given numerous names of our inner circle and told about how we raised money from over 3,000 people. As if that is small? In fact, with Condi still at 18% nationwide, and tied with Rudy in September, I think it is the fear of many reporters that Condi will win the nomination since she is one of the strongest leaders in the Republican party right now. My goodness, how could those old white guys in the Republican party wrap their white arms around a poised charming black woman to be their president? My goodness, what message would that send to the world about the United States? My goodness, could it be that the people in our nation could truly admire and respect a black woman? Lordy lordy, the party of Lincoln just might have a winner on their hands for 2008. Lordy lordy, what can the Democrats do to keep the minority groups locked into their partry? Well, via Taranto at OpinionJournal, comes this nasty business of black Democrats using the worst of racialist slurs against a black Republican... throwing Oreos, etc.
We've seen that leftists like the "cartoonist" Oliphant aren't above racist caricatures of Condi, so stuff like what is happening to MD Lt. Gov Michael Steele and worse will be thrown at Rice if she runs.

I'd like to see 'em try it. Rice has been through the wars on race: her father and his friends had to patrol the neighborhood to protect citizens from the Klan. She was personally acquainted, as a little girl, with one of the victims of that horrible church bombing.

Yes, I heard about Lt Gov Mike Steele being called a "token", and about the Oreo cookies tossed at him. The defending statement was "it is ok since it is just politics". These are the same people who ridiculed General Colin Powell in 1996, adding the fears that if he ran some WACKO would shoot him. Some people think the Security Team for Condi is excessive, but with all the anger toward President Bush by the left, and the fears that Condi might be running for president, I am glad my tax dollars are used to protect her in the US and around the world. The cartoons are disgusting and racist, tossing Oreos at any black person is also disgusting and racist. With the passing of Rosa Parks, I would hope the Dems and the liberals could see how shameful their behavior is to the rest of our nation. Calling it "just politics" is one key factor why so many people don't vote, refuse to be part of either political party, and why so many people are rejecting working on any campaign or donatng money to politics. It has been a real education in the past 10 months as I have been driving my Mini Cooper and flying to various events to set up a booth, handle the donations for "americansforrice.com", and meet thousands of people. Many of them truly admire Condi, respect her, and even is they support another Republican for president, none of the Republicans/conservatives have used any racist comment. The New Republic magazine included that point is a recent report by Michelle Cottle, I guesss I should have included that I am only hearing the racist comments from the Dems and the liberals. In fact, it was quite a shock to hear a white college girl who voted for Kerry use the word "token black" in a conversation with me. I guess when Dems and Libs can't win their debate on issues, they have to resort to name calling and degrading remarks. Again, thank you Miss Attila for providing a place to discuss real issues, and even have a bit of fun in expressing the stress of life. So by the time the real campaign for 2008 gets started, (some time after November 2006) "Americansforrice.com" will be prepared for all the nasty racist remarks, the degrading behavior by Democrats, and the people in our nation will shame them for their behavior. In fact, if a reporters asks be about this nasty stuff, it will be an opportunity to say, "It is not surprising that instead of referring to the blacks as victims, the Republicans promote the example that education is the key to success in life. And so many of the key black leaders in the Republican party have become successful based on their education, and their merit. And it is time to end the racist comments coming from the Dems and the Liberals". Tossing Oreos is childish, and trying to hide behind the term, "it is just politics" has reduced the Dems into a party of no ideas, no plans for the future, and no leadership to drag them out of continued losses to gain power back in Washington DC. If they had a plan, the Dems forgot to tell their supporters to behave themselves in public.

Dr. Richard Mason and I have prepared an excellent way to defend Condi from the left and from the Democrats. A few friends across the nation send us stuff they read or hear about, and it provides us with an outlet to stand up for Secretary Rice as a person, as a leader, and as a contender for 2008. Many people are finding us by doing a google search to find any group which seems serious about the draft movement promoting Condi. Sadly, a few sites are only out to make a few bucks by hawking Condi stuff, but they are not organizing in state after state, they are not buying any ad on TV or radio, and I guess that after 10 months, we have become the only political action committee truly dedicated to putting Condi on the ballots, nationwide in 2008. It is with the help of bloggers like you, Dear Miss Attila, which has provided us an outlet to speak to the people. Thank you so much for helping us get our message out to the people. And I hope to see you at CPAC in Washington DC, in Feb. 2006. It will be a really JOY to see you.

It was a real JOY to see Secretary Rice with President Bush at the Summit of the Americas this week. While preparing to board Air Force One, FOX was the only network with a LIVE shot of what was going on, and I saw Condi as one of the most gracious people, shaking hands, kissing cheeks, a total representative of all the is good and strong with our nation. The more she does her job as Secretary of State, the more she travels to perform her duty to our nation, and the more the international press covers her at world events; it makes Team Condi more proud to be working to promote her as our next president. Condi is serving us now, being groomed so to speak to take the helm of the Ship of State in the future.
