This Is No Longer the "Little Miss Attila" Blog.

Little Miss Attila—and her minion-Huns—have moved; please adjust your bookmarks accordingly.

A special shout-out goes to Pixy Misa and the rest of the Munuvians, for whom I still retain a huge amount of affection. I simply wanted to try WordPress, and thought that a fresh blog might give me more control over the levels of comment spam I was experiencing.

Light Blogging, Through the End of the Week

And possibly for the next few months, though I don't think it'll take that long. (Mastering the new gig, that is; the job itself will last anywhere from four weeks to four months.)
Of course, between the need to balance this assignment against the demands of my other main client and the need to get some blogging done, it could be argued that I should up my time-management game.

Is the word "up" acceptable as a verb?
Of course it is; it's used in sports.
"Verbing weirds language."
Out of my cold, dead thesaurus.
If "contact" is a verb, "up" is a verb.
I still draw the line at "impact." That's a noun.
Up yours.

A Small Reminder.

Just because I'm blogging less does not mean you should visit less. It means you should visiit more. And send me more money. And buy ads.

I mean, if there's going to be any wealth-spreading going on, it should be via my tip jar. [Suddenly I'm smacking my forehead, realizing that if I'd only pretended to support Obama over the last two years I could have been in a great position to apply for some sort of NEA grant:

"Blogging as Art for Art's Sake."

"The Blog: Performance Art for the Unattractive?"

"Anais Nin vs. Ben Stein: Who Was History's First Blogger?"

"The Diaries of Virginia Woolf, Translated into Today's. Blogging. Patois."

"The Housewife as Insurrectionist: Erica Jong's 'Blood in the Streets' as a Metaphor for the Ancient Struggle Between Woman and Uterus."

"Blogging Families Such as the Reynolds-Smiths versus the Brontes: Who Is, Ultimately, More Fly?"

"Why Would We Want to Televise the Revolution, When We Can Probably Find It on You Tube and Embed Our Favorite Footage Into Our Web Sites?"

"The Madwoman in Cyberspace: How Patriarchy Deprived Women of Rooms of Their Own, Leading to the Weblog as a Creative Imperative."]

Light Blogging for the Next 24-168 Hours

I'm headed out to run a couple of last-minute errands, do the vote-in-person thing in Norwalk, and drive to Las Vegas, where I will spend the week helping with Get Out the Vote stuff.

Content will be haphazard at best; probably just a wind-down post at the end of the day, along with those Special Insights you can only get from Little Miss Attila. ("Wow. The air here is even drier than it is at home.")

Thank You, Azmat!

This will buy me a salad and/or a sandwich; when I'm on the road I try to have one actual meal each day. (The rest of the time it's protein bars and "Tiny Twist" pretzels. I won't eat the ones that are shaped like little sticks, because I am old-school: pretzels should be pretzel-shaped. Period.)

Thank you.

Also, please send me money, so I can keep buying pineapple-mango juice.

Can One Resize Videos for Display?

Or is that an option that the original editors/producers of the vid have to create? I'm remembering that horrible moment that I had to take down Paris Hilton's brilliant vid that "satirized" McCain.

I wish that those who release vids on the web would remember that the main column in a blog is only so large, and create a smallish one that can be embedded without creating havoc.

Funnest Spam Attack Yet.

Over 300 spam comments this time.

I keep thinking of the Kinks line about rock 'n' roll: "This might turn into a steady job."

Yeah, well. It's certainly steady . . .

Light Blogging, Next 24 Hours.

But after that, the Siggraph coverage starts, which should be fun. (At least, it will be for me!)

Site's Back Up.

I think.

Darrell:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/attila/public_html/index.php on line 306

When I open your site on IE7 or Firefox, I get this message. And the page won't load. Is that what you were going for?

I never know when to expect performance art.

Well, I sure couldn't figure it out. I simply assumed someone had made a voodoo doll out of my main page, and was sticking pins in it somewhere. Now, however, he/she has apparently gone to sleep.

My Blog Angst

Right now, it appears that for some browsers, the main page is down—but not individual entry pages. So, if you're one of my half-dozen readers [ ], I'd recommend that you simply use the navigational thingie to scroll through entries, rather than try to get to that elusive main page.

I Broke My Glasses.

So they sort of hurt--the little nose-piece is gone, and they dig into my nose.

I therefore intend to take the rest of the night off from the computer, and go back to the actual book I'm reading, which I can do without my glasses if I just hold it exactly the right distance from my face.

One must admit . . . when the light is decent and the type size is reasonable, there's nothing to compare with dead tree for readin'.

All is well here. I'll be back soon. Check out the juicy blogs on my delectable sidebar.

And don't forget to enjoy the summertime! Eat a peach, or a popsicle. Get some Vitamin D. Go swimming. Make love with your sweetie.

Light Blogging Continues.

I'm swamped by real-life obligations right now; that's good for me, but not so good for those of you who have come to depend upon my trenchant analyses, irreverent sense of humor, and feminine pulchritude.

If I can clear my desk I'll be blogging later in the day.

Light Blogging Tonight (or Wednesday Morning, for You East-Coasters)

I'm having a small midlife crisis, but I'll try to make it brief. In the meantime, there are some badass bloggers listed on my sidebar, over to the right somewhere . . .

I'm Still Here.

I'm working on a few posts, but they aren't the "just throw 'em up" type.

There have been some family obligations today, and it's still going to be a few more hours before I'm back at the keyboard.

I promise, however, to be extra-brilliant tonight to make up for taking most of a day off.

Working on a Long Story, and My Freelance Gig.

So blogging will be light for the rest of the day. Tomorrow, however, I'll have lots of bloggy goodness up here, and probably at Right Wing News as well.

As usual, we'll be focusing on energy issues: drilling on the coasts and in ANWR, and learning how to get more effective use out of oil shale.

Light Blogging for the Next Several Days.

We're packing things up for the move, which is a week from Monday. Meanwhile, the final walk-through on this place will occur on Sunday, so there are contradictory impulses going, here: the desire to get everything boxed up, vs. the need to keep things clean and tidy, because the female buyer is bringing her mother along, and the Buyer Mother will be seeing the house for the first time.

So it's crunch time. The practical-minded will tell me that it's okay if the house looks messy for the buyer's final walk-through. And they will be right.

I broke down yesterday in fear, and called the Clutter Lady. If she could stop by this week and bark out a few orders, that would be great.
