A Quick Survey of Christians, and Others from Formatted Spiritual Traditions
Would it be dangerous or unfaithful of me to go to a palm reader? I should think it would be okay, if one didn't take it any more seriously than one took, say, reading a horoscope.

Reminders me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon in which he is, as usual, messing with Elmer Fudd. Bugs comes out in a turban and asks if Elmer wants his palm READ. Elmer says "yes," Bugs gets out a paint can, and Elmer gets his palm RED.
Why waste your money? That is my question.

I have no idea. Part of me--and I mean, the quasi-intellectual in me--finds it shocking that I have any desire to do such a thing. The other part says, "why not? Get it out of your system."

There's nothing inherently wrong with visiting a palm reader from a Christian(Roman Catholic) perspective, if you do it for amusement purposes only. The problem today, from what I've heard, is finding a "reader" who even bothers to go through the motions. They can't seem to tear themselves away from all the action on their TV screens to put on a good show. They don't even bother to recommend a long, expensive, series of future "aura cleansing sessions" to remove assorted curses and whatnot. They just take your $5-$20(Chicago) and give you the "You are going to live a long life, blah, blah, blah..." treatment. Scandalous! Think a stripper who rips off her clothes all at once before the bridge of the song, flips the audience the bird, and leaves the stage. I, for one, wouldn't put up with that more than a few hundred times, or so...

An air of angst can be infered from the question. While I would not equate this with, say, Saul seeking counsel from Samuel via the witch of Endor, I can't help but feel a pang of guilt awaits.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on palm readingÂ… or homeopathicsÂ… or acupunctureÂ… or phrenologyÂ…or pet psychicsÂ…or Mexican alternative medicineÂ…or etc, etcÂ…
