But isn't McCain-Feingold the ur-inside-the-beltway issue? I have yet to hear chatter about it on any forum except the absolute most politically engagé forums. Will it really be a voting booth issue?

Not in the sense you're thinking. But if it keeps the man from getting on the ballot in the first place, the point is moot.
