Ugh. Potential GOP Nominees.

Please not Romney.

I pretty much agree with Joyner, presuming Condi is serious about staying out of the fray: Guiliani's baggage is lightened by his performance in the aftermath of 9/11, but that won't make it go away completely.

Still, he's one of the few possibilities that I'm willing to vote for. As I've said many times, if it's McCain I'm not voting for President in '08. I won't do it.

1 I suppose it would depend on who is running on the Dem side. (As to whether I'd get out and vote for McCain or stay home.) I'd vote for him over Kerry or Gore, for instance. But I would happily vote for Guiliani. Unless the Dems got a miraculous attack of sanity and put up Zell Miller (and he had a sudden attack of insanity and didn't refuse the nomination).

2 If it were Romney on the R side, would he get your vote?

3 McCain is the only one on the actual blacklist right now.

4 Ah, but what if the choice was McCain or Hillary as the next president? Tough choice to sit out there. I'd like to see Hailey Barbour run. He would be a fantastic candidate.

5 Well, Hillary might be tough in certain ways: after all, as a Dem and a woman, she'd have to come off as more of a hawk than she may want to be, deep down. Or maybe I'm wrong. Remember the lamp-throwing? Maybe she's just looking for the chance to throw something at the Iranians. I do not think a Hillary presidency would be "Bill, Part II." Would I vote for her? Well . . . I'm sure not voting for McCain.

6 Excuse me. Hillary threw a Lalique candy dish. And that's from Bob Woodward in that book of his about Hillary. So you know it must be true. The chronology of the story was--A disgruntled white house staffer who was p-o'd at being demoted told a member of the MSM that Hill threw an ashtray at Bill. Hill says question not worth responding to, feigns outrage for it having been asked. Later jokes that she threw a Mercedes at Bill. Woodward checks records, notes that WH files a notice to GSA indicating that a Lalique candy dish--a gift from a foreign dignitary during the Reagan years, was destroyed. End of case. To the common person, the Lalique candy dish looks a lot like an ashtray. But not at all like an AMG C36.

7 If it's McCain vs Hillary, I won't be staying home. The Libertarian gets my vote.

8 I've been thinking along those lines myself: there's only so far I want to bend my ideals.
