Intra-Family Dialogue
Joy:
Dad,
Please don't shorten people's names, particularly in your business correspondence. Also, be careful about whom you cc: your email to, especially when it's marked "private." You can always forward email to people separately, or use the blind-copy function.
Joy:
Dad,
I didn't mean to sound bitchy, there. I'm just in a hurry . . .
—J
Joy's Father:
My Baby,
Gosh—I never met a bitchy person.
Love,
Dad
Other than the three he married, and the one he produced. Whoops; did I say that out loud?
(My brother and my half-sister are nice people. I'm the black sheep.)

I've Got a Cool Business Meeting Coming Up.
However, it's with people I see on, like, a weekly basis. A suit would be a bit much.
Also, it's in California—where it's easy to overdo it.
Any thoughts?
And let's not it mixed up with this thread.

I think you can never go wrong with a skirted suit or pants suit, linen shirt with collar, buttoned and loose, and low heels with hose, of course. You can part ways with the jacket early on to give that "informal," "getting down to business" attitude, impression. If jeans and a t-shirt were appropriate, you wouldn't be posing the question, would you? I suppose you can just go along what other women at that meeting will be doing, but I see you as a leader rather than a follower. And details are your stock-in-trade, no?
And btw, for men, it's impossible to separate the two topics--it's always "on the table." We only pretend that it's not. Clothing--or lack thereof--plays a surprisingly small role in the whole process. That's why the burqa-- burkha, burka or burqua- stuff is such nonsense. Once we realize that there is a real woman under all that instead of male terrorist-in-hiding, the same thoughts return. The real purpose there is the separation and isolation of the sexes and making it impossible to do any work outside of the home.

I Want to Sleep. Really.
But first I have to prowl the internet, and . . . there's nothing on.
I'm like a child, really: "there's nothing to dooooooooo."
(Actually, I want to watch a video, but Safari and YouTube are not getting along right now. So I guess I get to learn about that delayed gratifithingie.)

My Browwser is not displaying all your posts from January 11th on. . . Just my luck--I heard they may win a special Golden Globe. I use IE 7.0.6000.16575, btw. Any suggestions?

Ah, yes. Those missing posts. The ones from Friday and Saturday. Pity about the bug that hides those from view . . .
I'll get my people right on that.

Still Depressed.
I'm headed out to South Central, to see if I can score some estrogen.
Back later.

Be careful! The Euros banned (or will) mercury-in-glass thermometers while making mercury-containing compact fluorescent bulbs compulsory. For those that don't know, the quantity in the former is a spit in a big pond compared to the latter. With incandescent bulbs gone, they will be looking at you next!

We now DO know how many legislators it takes to change a light bulb, though: 314 members of the United States House of Representatives and 86 members of the United States Senate. Finally!
