Have You Ever Said To Yourself,

"you know, I'm not going to be an asshole any longer," and then discovered that turning over a new leaf has merely transformed you into an entirely different sort of asshole?

I wonder if this is part of my Protestant heritage—a hangover from the traditional delusion that humans are somehow perfectable.

1 To your own self be true. Trying not to be an asshole is to betray yourself. No matter what your position, no matter what your opinion, someone will consider you an asshole for it. Be true to yourself, don't care, be the asshole you were ment to be. It works for me.

2 I wonder if this is part of my Protestant heritage—a hangover from the traditional delusion that humans are somehow perfectable. Hmmmm...I would have thought that the traditional Protestant view would be that some people are predestined for perfection, and that some are predestined to be assholes.
