My Present Dermatologist

. . . is very cautious about prescribing medicated skin creams. I believe he's afraid I'll somehow manage to dry them out, create powdered versions, and snort 'em.

Next thing you know, I'd be a Diprolene 'ho, and it would be all his fault.

But, no: he's saving me from that sort of existence.

1 You could introduce him to an interesting alternative take on "Physician, heal thy self." He's just trying to make sure that the diseases that cause those nasty skin conditions don't develop an immunity to the medicines that work, thereby saving countless future generations from itching and/or scratching. Why not? That stupid, illogical explanation was used once again with antibiotics, when the AMA suggested trying 3 days of treatment, rather than the 7-10 day regime currently used. But, gee, oh-wise-and wonderful healers, won't that cause more bacteria to survive leading to more second- and third generations of bacteria that could develop resistance? Sure. Ignore the obvious. I swear. Pretty soon they'll be back to shaking rattles and chanting.

3 Yeah, that's what's going to happen, though I did finally get my diprolene--it was like pulling teeth.
