Last time I went downstairs things were a little bit lopsided. A the H was mostly pretty happy about it, though all I could think about was the fact that one of his cousins flew out here specifically to cheer Illinois on, and I wished things were going better for them.
The only concession A the H would make to his area of origin was to note that Illinois will probably getting a lot better from here on out: "they're a young team," he tells me.
My mother called to tell us that she's watching the game, and "rooting for the underdogs." That's kind of what I'm doing, too. But quietly . . .
"How would the Lord watch this game?" I asked my husband.
"Oh, He would be rooting for USC," he replied. "The last will be first, and all that . . . except in football."

I'll free your comment, AG.
I thought a comeback was always possible. After all it was only 49-17 at the final whistle. And the Illini were driving. . .

I thought the Lord doesn't watch sports, knowing the outcome and all that. And Trojans don't fit with His policy about allowing conception to take place at His Will, do they?

Ba da dum! (Rim shot!)
I was feeling so sorry for the husband's cousin, out there in the cold, with his team behind and all that.
I've been informed that he's gone out to see the Bears lose in much worse weather, of course . . . but I'd just eaten cold cereal, and sixty degrees seemed so grim . . .
I've been told to take a heavy coat when I go to Brooklyn in a week and a half--that it might be a teensy bit different from what I'm used to.

A little bit. . . Coat and sweater weather!
It's 13F here without the windchill, btw.

Make that 7.7F by my house. The other is for O'Hare

And, as I recall, the wind in Chi-town has a habit of going right through one, and whatever one is wearing.
Fortunately, a couple of times ago when I was in NYC it was during a cold-snap. I'll take my heavy "Chicago/NY" coat, and all the accessories. Especially that silly-looking quasi-Hungarian hat that makes my head overheat when I wear it indoors . . . that should help.

That trip was a business trip, BTW. And it was something like five degrees in NYC. I had decided, wisely, to pack a skirt or two. So I'd look businesslike. Holy shit, was that a mistake . . .

I'll call Linda Nowak and see if she took home a spacesuit with the heating module. That should about do for a Cali girl that ventures East in the Winter.
