I bet those small towns don't have any real "culture" like local theater companies that put on shows about killing Bush or how rotten America is-- daily. How sad! I bet Amanda Marcotte can fix that, now that she may have the time. She better look into body armor, though. I hear those small town crowds do find a place in their tight budgets for firearms. And adequate supplies of ammunition.

2 Support the troops? Look around all the flags on cars have disappeared. The Stars and stripes have been replaced by Go Colts and Pacers. In the early days of the invasion of Iraq, thats all you could see, a sea of flags, sometimes two and three on one car or motorcycle. Now it seems that America is embarrassed of this war. Or maybe all the flags are used up. Its not that America is rotten, it is this stupid occupation that does not have the support of the people. After declaring mission accomplished, every soldier that dies, is on a new mission, one that has not been clearly defined.

4 Darrell, no I don't support the troops like you do. Because I see the carnage both in Iraq and here. War is only beautiful when you own the right stocks, and when you don't really care about the lives lost. How many people do you know personally that have lost a son,or a husband or a sister or a brother? Yes you can be excited about going into Iran, for me it is the same. Just remind yourself to buy some haliburton stocks, and retire... Its all about me me me me for you isn't it? When I see conflict I try to diffuse it, you want to inflame it. Please get excited as much as you want and let me know how your 401k is doing.

6 Oh, yes, my Halliburton stocks. My nonexistent Halliburton stocks. Wrong again, Azmat. Many lives have been lost, and more will surely be lost in the future to preserve freedom. That is the price of freedom. What is your point? What would you be saying if 1,000,000 Iraqis are killed, or would now be dead, because of sectarian violence? What you say about the 100-200* million Indians killed by Muslims since 700 AD? Nothing. Or deny it. Now how did you try to defuse the Iran situation? Oh yes, by denying that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons. Their statements that they were should have been a tipoff-- regardless of their other statements to the contrary. *It's a pity that so many researchers have refused to seriously study the subject. There are so many individual stories(including Muslim accounts) and estimates of those killed in thousands of individual incidents over that period, but no one seems to want to come up with a grand total. I'd say this range reflects a reasonable estimate of all categories of death, including forced labor and all forms of genocide.

7 Darrell, (smile) The price of freedom? Wow I feel free Now, Lets pay more so I can feel freeer. I just want to know who is free in Iraq, the troops that are stuck in the green zone, or the insurgents who attack whenever they want and wherever. If a million Iraqis were killed I would say pity, but I wouldn't be blaming the US occupation or withdrawl. I would blame the people who were committing those acts. And is it only a 100 or 200 million, do you even know what these numbers mean or could it be 500 million? Why would I deny it I wasn't even born when that happened. Gotta run
