You're Wrong, Rick.

And at least one of the following is true:

1) You don't know much about Sarah Palin;

2) You see Affirmative Action lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce and undermine Conservatism, the GOP, and the War on Terror—possibly all in one fell swoop;

3) You're a bit of a sexist; or

4) When you look at a bakery cake, all you can see is frosting.

2 "You would have thought the base was energized by being in a war." He's also mistaken about who is the conservative base. Were we excited about Kosovo? Were we excited about bombing aspirin factories and "wag the dog" adventures? Did we think the mission in Somalia was such a grand idea? For that matter, what did we think of the Vietnam war? Or the Korean conflict? Or WWII for that matter? Neo-conservatives (neo-Trotskyites) are a relatively new addition to the party. Does he really think the *base* is gung-ho to bomb Iran next, and then beat those pesky Russkies out of Georgia? Jeebus on a pogo stick! This is the stuff of Wilsonian democrats! They've migrated in the last thirty to forty years, yes. But the conservative *base* is rightly wary of foreign adventures, and would use the military sparingly if we had our way. Bush rightly decried "nation building" in the 2000 race. I for one am *weary* that we are still at war. Energized? Who ya kidding? I'm pleased as punch that we're prepping to hand over Anbar Province to the Iraqi's. If that goes well, maybe we can start to seriously draw down our troop numbers in Iraq.
