1 So, help out a leftie with his nose pressed to the glass, watching the food fight. It really doesn't seem to be Coulter vs. the World; it seems like a significant chunk of the SoCon base was prepared to say, "You go, Ann!" Is she really that isolated, or is this now showing a rift between the foreign policy/economic conservatives and the SoCons? I'm not being snarky or trying to pick a fight, really, I'm just clueless in this area.

2 It's not as clean a rift as you think it is: a huge number of SoCons aren't the least bit happy with Coulter's actions and words. At the same time, lot of libertarian types are extremely unhappy with the PC culture: the setting up of artificial taboos is a matter of great concern. So the Isiah Washington story can have any number of morals: to some, it has to do with restrictions on speech. For others, it's a matter of free association, and the private individual learning to get along with his/her fellows. After all, no government agency was involved in either the Grey's Anatomy situation or the bloggers' protest against Coulter speaking at CPAC. So no censorship was involved in either situation. I don't think there's a simple way to label the two sides in this debate. Sorry!
