I Am Not Obsessed with Shivaree.

And Waldorf Salad Cilantro, or whatever she calls herself. The woman is a slim brunette—yet has an amazing voice, dark hair, phenomenal presence, and . . . nicer boobs even than mine.

"Goodnight Moon"

There's a nail in the door
And there's glass on the lawn
Tacks on the floor
And the TV is on
And I always sleep with my guns
When you're gone

There's a blade by the bed
And a phone in my hand
A dog on the floor
And some cash on the nightstand
When I'm all alone the dreaming stops
And I just can't stand

What should I do I'm just a little baby
What if the lights go out and maybe
And then the wind just starts to moan
Outside the door he followed me home

Well goodnight moon
I want the sun
If it's not here soon
I might be done
No it won't be too soon 'til I say
Goodnight moon

There's a shark in the pool
And a witch in the tree
A crazy old neighbour and he's been watching me
And there's footsteps loud and strong coming down the hall
Something's under the bed
Now it's out in the hedge
There's a big black crow sitting on my window ledge
And I hear something scratching through the wall

Oh what should I do I'm just a little baby
What if the lights go out and maybe
I just hate to be all alone
Outside the door he followed me home
Now goodnight moon
I want the sun
If it's not here soon
I might be done
No it won't be too soon 'til I say
Goodnight moon

Well you're up so high
How can you save me
When the dark comes here
Tonight to take me up
To my front walk
And into bed where it kisses my face
And eats my head

Oh what should I do I'm just a little baby
What if the lights go out and maybe
And then the wind just starts to moan
Outside the door he followed me home
Now goodnight moon
I want the sun
If it's not here soon
I might be done
No it won't be too soon 'til I say
Goodnight moon
No it won't be too soon 'til I say
Goodnight moon

The lyrics work on at least four different levels, and I love that. Of course, to me that whole incubus/realio trulio stalker distinction is fairly clear. For the former, I used to have cutting quips. For the latter, I suspect I'd go for JHPs. YMMV.

And I long—long—to explain all this to Ms. Parsley. At some length. Like, as a public service.

2 Okay, she's cutesy. Arch-twee, in fact. Curse you for making me listen to this, and buy it from iTunes, and listen again.

3 Too bad she sucks from the cock of socialism. Witness her association with Air America and “Ambrosia Sings The News.” Takes a lot of deodorant to mask that stink. Besides, you have JR in your walk-in. Feelings must be considered.

4 I hate to get all worked up and find that we differ on the Boumediene Case. And tax cuts. And the War on Terrorism. And energy policy. Etc.

5 You're right. I must be more thoughtful of JR. As for the ideological thing--well, I don't really listen to musicians, actors, or any creative types when they try to talk about public policy issues. It is completely predictable that those who make their livings by exploring the realm of emotion wouldn't be able to turn that off and look at social organizations in a properly analytical way.

6 Still I expect artists to represent the counterculture, and since our culture and media is leaning so far left it touches the ground. . . On a separate note. Why do you think the Boumediene Case is getting so little coverage from the MSM? Do they want to let it pass so that voters won't be thinking of Barack's potential three SCOTUS appointments in his first term? And fuck the French. This is the last time we're coming to save your asses! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4124354.ece
