This convinced me. I'm pulling the lever
tomorrow.
It's like waking up from a long, long, sleep.
Thanks for standing by me when the times were rough. But at least now you know all those interventions finally showed results.

Ya don't think there's just a bit of a difference between the American Civil War and a war of choice based on, let's be honest now, revenge and petrogluttony?

a war of choice based on, let's be honest now, revenge and petrogluttony?
Only if you're willing to believe that the cease-fire signed in 1991 was actually a peace treaty.
But wouldn't have been cheaper and easier to do a back door deal with Saddam, giving the US (and Haliburton) access to the Iraqi oil fields in exchange for lifting sanctions? and getting sweet revenge upon the Germans and French by getting Saddam to cancel their secret deals allowing them to develop and exploit new Iraqi oil fields?
But no, let's cut-n-run ™ soonest, so we can insure that Iraq falls into sectarian civil war. You know, the one that the media was breathlessly reporting was
just about to happen.

I dunno, CY: how does the Civil War not qualify as a "war of choice"? Lincoln chose to kill people (a lot of people) rather than let the South secede.
Was it based on his moral convictions about slavery?
Or was it based on his desire to keep the southern states locked into a relationship with the North that was economically advantageous to the latter? After all, for the following century or so, the South was a our own [internal] third world country.

History has taken the position that Lincoln was right to do what he did because the elimination of slavery was such a positive moral good, and [so the claim goes] worth all the blood shed to help get the Western world to that point.
Will history see a democratic Middle East in that same light?

Weren't the Democrats on the wrong side of that war(the Civil War), too?

Yes--that and the Civil Right movement 70-80 years later. Their track record on racial issues is not good.

My post was responding to the ad parody you referenced. Again, the American Civil War was not precipitated by an uprovoked invasion and occupation by a foreign power. And a "democratic Middle East" remains to be seen.
BTW, thanx fer yer vote keedo...

I feel for him, nobody likes losing, and especially that badly. Even his favorite George Allan, did not survive with his racist agenda. There are a lot of East Indians in Virginia and maybe these racists will go to some other country. Maybe to Denmark, ah but Darrell can\'t go anywhere, he has to live here with all of us dark people and get along. That must just crushing for him. You have my sympathy, and I feel for you. I hope that you find peace and comfort, and quit blaming others for your own problems.
Cheers,
Azmat

Have particle beam, do travel.
"That must just crushing" is a RACIST SLUR to my people!!!!!!How dare you!!!!!!!!!I demand that you step down right away!!!!! I'm sure when Allen said "Mocaca, or whatever his name is..."(For the Mohawk haircut), he knew the it was used as a slur in the former Belgian Congo....And I'm sure you KNOW that "That must just crushing" is phonetic English(or is it Cockney rhyming slang?) for a term I can't discuss on a family website! I don't much about Allen(Allan is another slur). or care. I do care about a fabricated campaign issue though...Especially when it gets as much traction as this one did. Ridiculous!
