2 Oh, yeah. James Garner was so appealing, and there was a lot of humor in that show. I mean, on-purpose humor. For unintentional humor in a detective show, I'd have to nominate Hawaii Five-O. It was the only cop show that starred a hairstyle.

3 Garner's westerns (eg Maverick always had a large dollop of humor, too. One of my favorites is a scene in Support Your Local Sherrif. Walter Brennan has pointed his gun at Garner. Garner puts his little finger into the barrel. Brennan complains that that's not fair, if he shoots the gun is likely to blow up; Garner retorts "Well, it won't do my finger much good, either!"
