UFC

I believe Attila the Hub finds it slightly indecent that I love to tell my parents about how we watch UFC fights on pay-per-view.

My father always asks if this is professional wrestling. "No," I tell him. "This isn't the guys in the pink tights."

My mother simply looks at me as if I'd suggested we roast up a plump rat for supper.

2 By any chance do you have a sister who is unattached? :-)

3 Sorry; just married off my one sister (half-sister, actually: she's half Syrian Christian, and half mostly Anglo-Saxon mutt [got that A-S stuff from our dad, I'm afraid]). There are a lot of chicks out there in the martial arts world, though: and many of them did more than dabble in T'ai Chi and obtain a [gasp!] orange belt in jujitsu.

4 Also: I admit that I usually only watch the first few hours of a UFC match--through the headliners, or a little bit beyond, rather than the marathon they produce for the heavy drinkers and die-hards like my husband. But martial arts are "the awesome." Everyone knows that. Find the right sensei. Attend jujitsu tournaments, or go to T'ai Chi camp with Jane Golden or someone of equivalent caliber. We aren't all made out of sugar water, you know

5 Remind me never to challenge you to a fight no matter how many margaritas I consume.

6 Jui Jitsu is fairly intense.... but isn't it tough to find teachers? What is the martial art practiced by the US Army?

7 As I understand it, the Rangers study jujitsu. Marines stationed in Okinawa often studied Okinawan karate; I know my husband did. Now I think the Marines have developed their own custom-blend martial art, just as the Israelis did some time back.

8 I like the fact that weomen enjoy the UFC as much as us guys do.Totally cool . The Hughes fight was a bit hard to see,if your a Hughes fan.It does show it pays in the end if you are in condition.
